The recipes within use a common abbreviation system for weights, volumes, and measures. The abbreviations are listed below to eliminate any possible ambiguity.

oz   =   ounces
tsp   =   teaspoons
tbs   =   tablespoons
c   =   cups
pt   =   pints
qt   =   quarts
gal   =   gallons
lb   =   pound
"   =   inch

3 tsp   =   1 tbs
1 cup   =   8 ounces
2 cups   =   1 pint
2 pints   =   1 quart
4 quarts   =   1 gallon
16 ounces   =   1 pound
1 stick butter/margarine   =   8 tbs or 1/2 cup or 1/4 pound
